An Engagement Under the Northern Lights

Picture this: the person you love getting down on one knee and asking you to spend the rest of your life with them. Now picture this: the ring box opens and you see the most perfect ring in the world, handmade just for you.

Why Did Tim Reach Out To SAM HAM Bespoke?

Tim is a graphic designer by trade and wanted to find a clean lined and minimalist engagement ring for his girlfriend Tara. However, Tim wanted the ring to be unique. He wanted to give Tara a piece of jewellery that was one of a kind, a distinctive ring that was inspired by their own love story.

The Inspiration Behind the Design:

Reference Imagery

As a couple Tim and Tara are called T ‘n’ T, go figure! This nickname became the inspiration behind the design of the engagement ring. Sam wanted to create a unique setting of two T’s to hold the diamond.

The Designs:

Option 1:

The first design was a subtle portrayal of the two T’s. It consisted of a Solitaire diamond being placed in a rub over setting (meaning the platinum is folded over the edges of the diamond) which was in the shape of the two T’s.

Option 2:

The second design that Sam came up with was a blinged out, diamond covered ring. The large diamond was placed in a setting of two T’s made up with smaller diamonds, on a tapered band.

Option 3:

Tim liked the tapered band, but was not interested in extra sparkle as the stone he chose was a beaut. A GIA certified 0.75ct D coloured brilliant cut diamond.

A Northern Lights Proposal Calls For a Special Box…

A fun detail! The ring box was very important for this engagement. Since Tim planned on proposing underneath the Northern Lights the box needed to be special. A unique ring box was chosen to light up the ring and make the diamond sparkle.

The Big Day:

SAM HAM is already planning for the big day! Not only did Sam create a unique engagement ring for Tara but she also designed a wedding band which will be fitted to the engagement ring.
